Life is full of ups and downs. It’s the natural rhythm of life and like water, we are constantly in a state of ebb and flow. What goes up, must come down.
In any given time throughout the year, month or even day, we can have an assortment of events that run our emotions through the full spectrum.
Living where I live now, we are constantly flooded with news and information affirming that we are living in the state of a severe recession. Companies are going through massive layoffs, many people are without work, and our dollar is the lowest it has been in my lifetime.
If you want any validation as to how bad it is out there, you’re going to find it, and you don’t even need to look very far.
However, for there to be negativity, it is necessary for there also to be positivity. For one to exist, the opposite must also exist.
The power comes from what you choose to look for and what you decide to believe.
No matter what the situation, remind yourself “I have a choice” – Deepak Chopra
Whether you are living through a recession or not, chances are at some point you will be challenged with circumstances that feel outside of your control. There comes a moment however when we understand that we all have a choice in every action that we take and every emotional reaction.
We choose to get up go to work every day at this particular office.
We choose the group of friends we surround ourself with.
We choose our partner’s.
We choose how we are going to respond to something and how we are going to perceive it.
Events sometimes happen that make us lose sight of the fact that we still hold the power of choice, and when you recognize that you still hold the cards, the entire perception of the circumstance can shift.
In acknowledging the power of your choices and your control over your thoughts, you can reclaim your power. Even at the lowest of times, when it feels as though there is nothing positive in the situation, you can choose to see and feel exactly what you want to, and acknowledge that maybe, just maybe, you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
So the next time you feel challenged to find the good in your situation or where you are, acknowledge that despite the feeling of helplessness that you may feel about your situation, you still hold the power of choice.
I choose to accept where I am.
I choose to see the positive in this situation.
I choose to be happy.
I choose to change this situation.
Recognize your personal power. Choose your choice.
Choose to take charge of the rest of your life.
